Dayashankar Tiwari, Mayor, inaugurated “Mayor Dental Camp†on Saturday in Gandhibag zone. Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) and Government Dental College & Hospital (GDCH) have jointly organised such dental camps at 75 different places in the city under Azadi-75 programme.
Mahesh (Sanjay) Mahajan, Chairman of the Health Committee, NMC, Shraddha Pathak, Gandhibag Zone Chairperson, Adv Sanjay Balpande, Corporator, Dr Abhay Datarkar, Dean, GDCH, Dr Narendra Bahirwar, Health Officer, NMC, Dr Vijay Joshi, Asstt Medical Health Officer, Dr Vaibhav and team of the college were present in the function.
Addressing the gathering, Tiwari said that the corporation was organising different health camps in the city to ensure health facilities and create awareness among the citizens. It has been decided to hold 107 primary health camps by the Health Department till December and accordingly arrangements are also being made. Under the “Mayor Netrajyoti Schemeâ€, the department is providing facilities for undergoing cataract operations, he said adding that so far 750 such operations have been conducted at Mahatme Netra Pedhi, where free operations are done under the Central and State Governments schemes.
In his speech, Dr Datarkar expressed his wish to organise 75 dental camps under Azadi-75 programme and said necessary arrangements are also being made for the purpose.
On the occasion, Tiwari congratulated Dr Datarkar on taking initiative in organising social programmes after taking charge as the Dean of the college.
