The Export Promotion Event of Nagpur District was organised by the Directorate of Industries, Government of Maharashtra in association with Directorate General of Foreign Trade, Government of India, Vidarbha Industries Association and Vidarbha Economic Development Council on 24th September 2021 in VIA Auditorium Nagpur. The main objective of the event was to make Exporter’s and MSME’s awareness about initiatives taken by the Central and State Government for export promotion and to help businesses to know their potential in Exports and thereby increase their profitability.
The conclave being organised in accordance with the “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav†events to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of Indian Independence. The Department of Commerce and Industry, Govt of India has been organising the ‘Vanijya Saptah’ from 20th to 26th September 2021 with a focus on economic growth and promotion of exports from India.
The district event was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, R Vimala (IAS), District Collector, Nagpur in the presence of Dr. V. Sraman (ITS) Development Commissioner, MIHAN SEZ cum Joint Director, DGFT Nagpur; A P Dharmadhikari, Joint Director Industries, Nagpur Division; Gajendra Bharati, General Manager, District Industries Centre, Nagpur; Santosh Kumar Singh, Chief Manager, ICD Nagpur; Shivkumar Rao, President, VED Council; and Suresh Rathi, President, Vidarbha Industries Association.
The event was attended by exporters, industrial association representatives, government officials and other dignitaries.
The event started with the opening remarks by Development Commissioner, MIHAN SEZ cum Joint Director, DGFT Nagpur on brief introduction on Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav initiative by the Government of India to make India as a World Export Hub with the support of State Governments from the district level.
Further, General Manager, DIC Nagpur made a presentation on Draft District Export Action Plan prepared for the Nagpur District with the focus on current state and district scenario, overview of identified ODOP products and it’s promotion strategy, export promotion strategy plan with small, medium, and large goals for next 5 years. Other DICs presented their District Export Action Plans in their respective districts.
In the inaugural address Hon’ble District Collector encouraged the exporters and ensured all the support from the local administration &government officials to resolve the issues pertaining to exports. She also highlighted the issue of non-availability of data at district level to analyse the performance and challenges of district level exports.
Further, the President of VED Council gave a speech on the Prime Minister’s export target of US $400 Billion for the FY 2021-22 followed by the export potential in the Vidarbha region.
Later, all 11 District Industries Centres (DICs) of Nagpur and Amravati region (Nagpur, Wardha, Gondia, Bhandara, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Akola, Amravati, Yavatmal, Washim and Buldhana) were connected virtually to attend the second session of the event. In the second session, CA Varun Vijaywargi gave a brief presentation on Export Promotion Schemes of India and P. A. Bamane made presentation on various schemes of APEDA.
The last session of the event was the open discussion for all 11 districts moderated by Joint Director Industries, Nagpur Division and the distinguished panelists were Development Commissioner, MIHAN SEZ cum Jt Director, DGFT; Mukul Patil, Jt Commissioner of Customs Department; Chief Manager – ICD Nagpur; President – VED Council; President – VIA; Ravleen Khurana from Nikita Pharma; Manohar Bhojwani from Dal Mill Association.
Panelist interacted with the exporters of all the 11 districts and resolved their queries.
