As many as 79 candidates for Zilla Parishad elections and 125 candidates for Panchayat Samiti elections are finally in the fray. The by-elections are to be held on October 5.
A total of 6, 16,016 voters, including 2,96,721 women voters would case their franchise in the the ZP by-election through 1115 polling booths, including 863 booths in the rural areas.
As many as 125 candidates will try their luck in the Panchayat Samiti elections. The by-elections are being held for five Zilla Parishads in Dhule, Nandurbar, Akola, Washim and Nagpur and for 33 Panchayat Samitis under them for vacant posts, as per the directives issued by the State Election Commission.
The polling will be held on October 5 from 7.30 am to 5.30 pm while counting of votes will be held on October 6 from 10 am onwards. The Election Officers will declare the names of victorious candidates on October 8, says an official press note.
