Workers of Vidarbha Rajya Andolan Samiti (VRAS) burnt the copy of Nagpur Pact in front of Vidarbha Chandika Mandir, Shahid Chowk, Itwari, here on Tuesday noon to press their various demands, including formation of separate State of Vidarbha.
Ram Newle, Chief Convener of the Samiti, Mukesh Masurkar, Tatyatasaheb Matte, Rekha Nimje and Sunita Yerne led the workers, who raised slogans in support of their demands. Newle claimed that similar agitations were held all over Vidarbha today to protest against the government and raise the voice of separate Vidarbha.
Addressing the gathering, Newle said that the Central Government should fulfill the assurance for separate Vidarbha. He criticised BJP for not fulfilling the promises given to the people. Leaders from Western Maharashtra diverted big funds of Vidarbha for irrigation projects and road construction and exploited forest wealth, minerals, and valuable things from here, he charged.
Masurkar also expressed his views. Jyoti Khandekar, Veena Bhoyar, Gulabrao Dhande, Naresh Nimje, Ganesh Sharma, Prashant Tagde, Rajendra Satai, Chandrashekhar Badkule, Pradip Deshpande, Shobha Yewle, Subhash Choudhari, and others particated actively in the stir.
