Rajapeth Police, Amravati took action against Talathi of Akoli village in Amravati Taluka and District, along with two mediators, for demanding a bribe of Rs 5,000. The bribe was demanded for issuing original 7/12 documents and revised (reduced) tax demand.
The Talathi Santiosh Ganeshrao Chapte (35), through mediators Dilip Vitthalrao Borekar (54) and Gajanan Rameshrao Sawant (42) had demanded bribe of Rs 5,000 to the complainant, who was a retired police officer and a resident of Nagpur. The complainant, who owns a plot in Akoli village wanted changes to be made in land records.
A complaint was lodged in Nagpur with ACB. PI Sarang Mirashi acted upon the complaint and offence under various sections has been registered with Rajapeth Police Station, Amravati. The action was taken under the guidance of Rakesh Ola, Superintendent of Police, ACB, Nagpur.
