The colleges in Maharashtra will reopen from October 20. The decision was taken in the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
Minister for Higher Education Uday Samant announced the decision. The universities and colleges will have to make a decision, as vaccination of students only will be allowed to attend the classes physically.
Like schools, attendance will not be compulsory for the students.

Samant has specifically stated that universities and colleges may undertake special vaccination drives for the students. A notification to this effect has been issued by the Directorate of Higher and Technical Education.
On-line classes, however, will be continued to prevent any academic loss to the students. The colleges have been directed to make arrangements for online classes for students who cannot attend the classes, maybe for want of two doses of Corona vaccine or for other reasons.
Earlier Samant had announced that the colleges are likely to reopen after the Diwali festival, which begins on November 1. Detailed instructions are likely to be issued by the Department of Higher Education soon.
The colleges in Pune have already started functioning.
