Maharashtra Minister for Minorities Nawab Mallik has charged the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) with framing selective persons in various cases, which includes his son-in-law Sameer Khan.
Addressing media persons Mallik presented the order of Justice Joglekar and also presented some photographs and documents in support of his claim that NCB is indicting some persons unnecessarily. It is also being used by Bharatiya Janata Party to malign the image of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and its leaders.
Mallik has been provided Y+ security, following his complaint that he has been receiving threatening phone calls.
Mallik stated that the media is being fed false news by NCB itself. The court has stated that the reported Ganja (Marijuana) seized on January 13, and inducted Sameer Khan in it, was not Ganja and was only herbal tobacco. Khan was also arrested alleging him to be a drug pedlar.
Mallik said surprisingly the NCB could not differentiate between Ganja and Tobacco, despite having a kit to conduct the tests. The material seized should have been sealed on the spot. However, it was shown open in the NCB office, without any seal.
He has alleged that some persons like Karan Shahista Furniturewala and Rahela Furniturewala and others have been indicted by NCB. He also stated that dozens of similar cases will be brought to the fore in the near future. His son-in-law, daughter and entire family suffered for more than eight months. Proper action will be taken in this connection at a later stage.
Mallik thanked NCP Chief Sharad Pawar for supporting him. He had stated that he (Mallik) cannot be punished for any wrong (if any) of his son-in-law.
