A Crime Branch team on Saturday night raided a hookah parlor run under the name of sports cafe.
Many youngsters were found smoking hookah at the parlour at time of the raid. The officials arrested Akif Rehan Akbar Ali (31), resident of Rose Colony, Jaffar Nagar, his partner Sheikh Sameer Vakil Ahmed (26), resident of Gittikhadan Police Station area, Aryan Manoj Satyel (21), resident of Ganeshpeth Gymkhana and Mangesh Sukhdev Wankhede (26), resident of Hingana near FDCM Bhavan.
According to details, there is a Kolba Sports Cafe in Chhaoni area of Sadar.
Despite the ban, the crime branch team recieved hints about hookahs being served to consumers here. Inspector Kishor Parvate of Unit Two raided the place on Saturday night.
At that time of raid, dozens of youngsters smoking hookahs. Director Akif Rehan, his partner Sheikh Sameer, manager Aryan Satyel and employee Mangesh Wankhede, who provided them with hookah, were arrested.
Also various types of hookah pots, tobacco products and other materials worth 99,550 were seized from their possession.
A case was registered against them at the police station. Crime Branch Unit 2 senior inspector Kishor Parvate, assistant inspector Ganesh Pawar, sub-inspector Mohekar, constabless Rajesh Tiwari, Mahendra Sadmake, Ashish Kunwar, Prashant Kodape, Ashish Kshirsagar, Thackeray, Ravi Shahu, Sheshrao Raut, Sunil Kishore Thackeray and Vivek Shripad.
It is worth mentioning here that this is the second action against the hookah parlor and the accused in two months.
