Modern School, Koradi Road, hosted the Teachers’ Training Programme on ‘Subject Specific MCQ for Std: IX AND X ( Science )’ organised by Nagpur Sahodaya Schools Complex. The resource persons for the training programme were Sumathi Venugopalan, Chief Academic Advisor, Narayana Vidyalayam and Biji George, Senior Science educator, Modern School.
The observer for the training was Annapoorni Shastri, Director, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Nagpur Kendra and Trustee, Nagpur Sahodaya Schools Complex. The programme began with the lighting of the lamp followed by the icebreaker session.
Sumathi Venugopalan explained the significance of the content of MCQs, how to frame STEM, create distractors, cloning of questions and identify the good questions from the bad ones. She also emphasised the need to design quality MCQs for the assessment of all competencies in Bloom’s Taxonomy.
Biji George discussed the advanced type of MCQs including the assertion reason type and the case-based questions. The Resource persons highlighted the need for proper designing of MCQ based assessment to enhance the ability of students to use their knowledge.
The post-lunch session involved the creation of MCQs by each group of teachers followed by its presentation and the analysis of questions framed. All the participants were awarded certificates at the end of the training programme at the hands of A. Shastri.
The venue director for the event was Rohan Kapai, Manager, Modern School. The training programme was attended by around 60 teachers from in and around Nagpur.
