Sunil Gavaskar suggested two changes for the Indian team ahead of their crucial match against New Zealand in the Super 12 stage of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 in Dubai.
Gavaskar suggested Ravi Shastri and Virat Kohli to select Ishan Kishan and Shardul Thakur in place of Hardik Pandya and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, respectively. While Pandya scored just 11 runs off 81 balls, Bhiv conceded 25 runs in 3 overs and was wicketless.
Ishan has been in fine form in the last few IPL matches and a warm-up game against England. Shardul took 21 wickets from 16 games at an average of 25.09 in IPL 2021.
“If Hardik Pandya is not bowling due to that shoulder injury he sustained in the match against Pakistan Ishan Kishan has been in brilliant form so I will surely consider him ahead of Pandya. “And perhaps, you can think of Shardul Thakur in place of Bhuvneshwar Kumar. But otherwise, if you make too many changes, then you will show the opposition that you have panicked,” the India legend told Sports Tak.
