Unity Runs were organised by Air Force Station, Vayusena Nagar and Air Force Station Sonegaon to commemorate Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav at Nagpur on 31 Oct 21.
The runs were flagged off from the Air Force Station Vayusena Nagar, Futala Gate by Air Marshal Shashiker Choudhary AVSM VSM ADC, Air Officer Commanding in Chief at Vayusena Nagar and Group Captain Kanchan Kumar, Station Commander, Air Force Station Sonegaon at Sonegaon.
As part of the ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ Celebrations, Air Force Station Vayusena Nagar Nagpur conducted a ‘Run for Unity’ of 7.5 Kms. A total of 782 air warriors/NC(E)s/DSC/Civilians including the family members/ dependents of Air Force Station Vayusena Nagar participated in the ‘Run for Unity’. The participants ran along the Futala Lake and reached the touch point at Civil Lines, Nagpur following the road along the Futala Lake and Telankhedi Hanuman temple and the run concluded at the Air Force School, Vayusena Nagar. The mass participation of the Air Force fraternity was aimed to reaffirm the inherent strength and resilience of our nation to withstand the actual and potential threats to the unity, integrity and security of our country. This enthusiastic participation was also aimed at uniting and uplifting the image of the IAF while paying rich tribute to our real national hero Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. All covid protocols were followed. Winners of the ‘Run for Unity’ were felicitated by the Air Marshal Shashiker Choudhary AVSM VSM ADC, Air Officer Commanding in Chief.
At Air Force Station Sonegaon, the ‘Unity Run’ witnessed wholehearted participation of air warriors, family members and children. The Unity run evinced a sense of health and environmental consciousness.
During the culmination ceremony of the event, Group Captain Kanchan Kumar Station Commander, Air Force Station Sonegaon addressed the participants and urged them to make fitness a daily habit and encouraged them to prioritise sports and fitness in their daily life.
