In the wake of Amravati violence, Nagpur Police have imposed Section 144 in the Second Capital of the State. The order prohibits people from spreading messages and posts on social media platforms that could create communal rifts among groups, assembly of five or more people, as well as holding meetings etc
The Section 144 came a day after, all the Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) initiated preventive action under their respective zones in order to maintain peace and tranquility following the directives of Commissioner of Police (CP) Nagpur City, Amitesh Kumar, Joint CP Nagpur City Aswati Dorje and Addl CPs.
Notably, route march was conducted in Zone II on Saturday, wherein DCP Zone II, Vinita S, ACP Sadar, all the Sr PIs officers and men ,one platoon of RCP and one QRT along with all the DB teams, Beat Marshalls, Patrolling vehicles participated to urge the citizens to refrain from spreading the rumours and maintaining the law and order in the city.
Similar action was taken by DCP Zone 1 Lohit Matani, DCP Zone 3 Gajanan Rajmane, DCP Zone 4 Noorul Hasan and DCP Zone 5 Manish Kalwaniya in their respective zones were the citizens were also requested to avoid forwarding  messages or videos that can disturb communal harmony on social media. Also a warning was issued that any such act will be dealt with strongly by the Police administration.
