Renowned ‘Shivkathakar’ Banwant Moreshwar alias Babasaheb Purandare, passed away on Monday morning. Honoured by Padma Vibhushan, Maharashtra Bhushan awards Babasaheb spent his life to study life and work of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and narrated it to masses through the exemplary oratory and distinct style.
Babasaheb was admitted to Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital in Pune and was kept on ventilator for age related health problems. He breathed his last on Sunday morning around 5 am. A historian and authored several books. He passed away at a ripe age of 99 years.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has announced State Funeral for Babasaheb. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, RSS Sarsanghchalak Dr Mohan Bhagwat and several other prominent persons have condoled death of Babasaheb Piurandare.
