If your phone is stolen on a train, you do not need to get off the train to file a report with the railway police. A police case can now be filed by the travelling ticket examiner (TTE) or railway police officials present on the train. They’ll report the incident to the rail police.
For example, suppose a person is travelling by train from Mumbai to Nagpur. Previously, he or she had not gotten down at intermediate stations such as Badnera to file a complaint about a stolen phone. This complaint can now be filed in Nagpur or anywhere else in India.
The precious time of travellers will be saved due to this new rule. The investigation can also start immediately as it will start as soon as the mobile is stolen. This will help the travellers a lot.
This will increase chances of recovery as per inspector Vikas Kanpillewar of local crime branch, railway police, Nagpur.
