With the threat of new variant Omicron looming large and number of COVID19 cases increasing across the state, Nagpur district has reported 24 cases during the last 24 hours. This includes 21 in Nagpur city.
Even after fervent appeals by the State Government, health machinery and municipal authorities, it is difficult to see people following the prescribed preventive measures. Using masks, sanitisation and maintaining social distance are the three basics to prevent the viral infection.
Relaxation in norms was a result of people following the rules, which had reduced the positivity rate. During the last few days the figure of positive patients has reached double figures.
Looking into the negligent behaviour of people and gradual rise in COVID19 patients, fresh rules were issued by the State Government. In Nagpur district the figure of positive cases has doubled during the last 24 hours. On Friday 12 cases were reported, which has doubled to 24 today.
Today, 21 new cases were registered in Nagpur city alone which is highest in December month and only 2 recoveries were reported in last 24 hours. Three cases were recorded from the rural area.
With today’s addition of cases, the cumulative positives cases reached 493816. Of the cumulative cases 6921 are from outside the district. Although no deaths have been reported the steep rise in cases is a cause of concern. The Cumulative COVID-19 death count remained 10,122.
So far 483615 persons have recovered from the virus borne disease. The Covid recovery rate of Nagpur district stood at 97.93%. With today’s addition the number of active cases goes up to 79 from 57 yesterday, in Nagpur district.
Maharahstra government has imposed certain restrictions, including ban on assembly of five or more persons from 9 pm to 6 am in public places and limited attendance in programmes, owing to increasing cases of corona virus. The restrictions come into force from Friday midnight.
The restrictions include: presence of 100 persons maximum for wedding ceremony in closed hall, 250 persons in open land or 25 per cent of the capacity of place, 50 percent presence of people of seating arrangement for other functions, allowing 25 percent presence of capacity in open programme, 50 percent persons in hotels, gym, theatres, 25 percent of the capacity for sports competitions or functions, not more than 100 persons in political, social, religious functions etc.
