Dayashankar Tiwari, the Mayor, asked the officials of Sports Authority of India (SAI) to expedite the work of  National Sports Training Institute in the city in order to provide a big platform for budding players and coaches.
He was taking a view of the activities at a meeting held here on Monday. Sushmita Jyotsi, Regional Director, SAI, Mumbai, was discussing with Tiwari after inspecting the training centre in the city. Dinkar Kumar, Engineer, and Ashish Banerjee, Co-ordinator of the centre, were present.
NMC has given 140.77 acres of land in the city to SAI for 30 years lease. Tiwari took a review of the works in order to complete the works of the institution for encouraging the sports policy.
Jyotsi, who also the responsibility of Maharashtra, Goa, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman and Dui regions, gave information about the ongoing work of compound wall of the institute and told that she was making efforts to complete this work at earliest possible. She also told that one multipurpose hall and hostel with a facility of 150 beds were also being constructed for holding various programmes. Both the projects have been given sanction, she added.
Tiwari asked the officials to informed him about difficulties if coming in the works.
