Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) is providing free services to persons living at footpaths or roadside in the city at six relief centres in different areas. It is providing services for 24 hours to such homeless persons in cooperation with social organisations.
Dipak Kumar Meena, Additional Municipal Commissioner, appealed to homeless persons to take benefit of this facility in view of cold atmosphere. The facility has been provided by Social Welfare Department under under Deendayal Antyoday Yojna and Rashtriya Nagari Upjivika Abhiyaan.
There is a facility of 280 beds in the centres while 172 persons are taking benefit there. This facility is also provided to persons coming here for employment purpose while free meal is given to persons above 60 years of age. The persons below this age are given breakfast and meal at nominal rates. The centres are situated at Sitabuldi, Timki, Railway Station Road, Dipty Signal, Mission Mohalla in Indora and Indora Samaj Bhavan premises, New Building, Indora.
