The post mortem of T-35 tigress that was found dead in Pathar beat of Saleghat range, Mansinghdeo Sanctuary in Pench Tiger Reserve on Tuesday was conducted by a team of veterinarians on Wednesday. Though the body parts were found intact without any injury, the exact cause of the death of the tigress could be known in a day or two after getting the report.
Forest Department informed that visceral samples would be sent to Regional Forensic Science Lab, Nagpur, for analysis. Meanwhile, it has divided the entire area at the spot of carcass into grids and is installing 60 camera traps to monitor movement of two 11-month-old cubs. Moreover, it has also deployed 4 teams. Including STPF staff, dog squad to search the entire areas thoroughly.
Dr Sayeed Bilal, Dr Mayur Kale, and Dr Gauvra Baraskar, Livestock Development Officer conducted the post mortem. Ajinkya Bhatkar, Udham Singh Yadav, both Honorary Wildlife Wardens, Sarpanch of Suvardhara village Keswantabai Edpachi, Remeshwar Kumbhare, President of EDC, Ambazari, Dr Prabhu Nath Shukla, Deputy Director, Pench Tiger Reserve, Atul Deokar, Assitt Conservator of Forest, forest officials and others were present. After the post mortem, the carfcass was consigned to flames as per NTCA protocol. Further investigation is underway.
