Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), Nagpur Smart and Sustainable City Development Corporation Limited (NSSCD- CL), and AIESEC have collaborated to hold ‘Nagpur Marathon’ on January 2, 2022 in the city to mark ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’.
Buveneswari S, Chief Executive Officer of Nagpur Smart City, made the announcement in this regard in a press conference held here on Wednesday. According to her, the marathon will be divided into three categories — 21 kilometers, 10 kilometers, and 3 kilometers.
The first three winners in each category will get exciting prizes. The marathon will begin on the grounds of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) and end at Law College Square.
To participate in the event, one may visit the website https://link-tr.ee/AIESECinNagpurMarathon and fill up the registration form. On January 2, the 21 kilometer run will begin at 5.45 am, the 10- kilometer run at 6 am, and the 3-kilometer run at 6.15 am.
The ‘Run for Global Goals Marathon’, according to
Buveneswari S, is a one-day physical event that aims at promoting health and fitness among people while adhering to all COVID-19 related norms. The
marathon aims at raising awareness of health and fitness, and the United Nations’ 17
Sustainable Development Goals. AIESEC is a not-for-profit organisation governed by students, said
Radha Pachpor,Vice-President of AIESEC.
Over the course of 70-year history, it has engaged and developed more than 10,00,000 young
people through AIESEC programme. Nagpur Chapter was established in 2011.
Route: The marathon will start from RTMNU grounds and its route is as follows: Law College Square, Babasaheb Ghatate Square, Alankar Chowk, University Library Square, Maharajbagh Square,Variety Square, Freedom Park Square, Zero Mile Square,.Samvidhan Chowk, Kasturchand Park, Liberty Square, Old VCA Square, NMRO Square, Income Tax Office Square, Tirpude College, GST Bhavan Square, Padma Shri Mohd Rafi Square, District Collector Office Square, GPO Square, Rajarani Square, Ahimsa Square, Ravi Nagar water tank, Judges Quarters, Walkers’ Street, Futala Road, Japanese Garden Square, Seminary Hills Square, Seminary Hills road, Holy Rosary Church. through CPWD Type-2 Staff Quarters, TV Tower Square, Metro Rail Corporation office, CGO Complex,Veterinary Square, LAD Square, South Indian Point, Air Force Square, District Deputy Commissioner office,Telankhedi Mandir Square, Vir Birsa Munda statue, Futala Square, Amravati Road, Babasaheb Ghatate Square, and back to Law College Square.
