It is a matter of happiness that the homeless persons can fulfil their dream of a home with the symbolic distribution of ‘patte’ (ownership rights) to 50 persons at a function held in presence of Dr Nitn Raut, Guardian Minister for Nagpur district, here on Friday.
Dr Raut was the chief guest at the function held at sports complex, Mankapur, to give ‘patte’ to slum-dwellers coming under Nazul, Nagpur Municipal Corporation and Nagpur Improvement Trust. Sunil Kedar, Minister for Dairy Development, Dayashankar Tiwari, Mayor, Mohan Mate, Legislator, Tanaji Wanve, Opposition Leader in NMC, Vimla R, District Collector, Radhakrishnan B, Municipal Commissioner, Manoj Kumar Suryavanshi, Chairman of NIT, Yogesh Kumbhejkar, Chief Executive Officer, Nagpur Zilla Parishad, and others were among those who were seated on the dais.
On the occasion, the guests gave away certificates to slum-dwellers. Around 350 proposals are being cleared. The certificates were given to only 50 persons in view of government rules to check coronavirus.
Dr Raut said, poor persons are attracted towards cities in search of job but they always find a problem of their own homes. The government has taken a decision to give ‘patte’ to families living in the city for many years and this function is part of it. He praised NMC and Revenue Department for taking initiative in this regard.
Sunil Kedar assured to make efforts for solving the problem of Zudpi Jungle and then allotting homes to poor persons in rural areas. Mate, Tiwari and guests also expressed their views. Vimla R made introductory remarks while Chaitali Savant, Tehsildar, conducted the programme. Vijaya Bankar, Resident Deputy Collector, proposed a vote of thanks.
