Restrictions imposed again in Maharashtra, due to steep rise in Corona cases

The threat of lockdown looms large with fast spreading Corona infection in entire Maharashtra. The restrictions on attendance at marriage ceremony, social, cultural and religious function and other gatherings have been re-imposed. Funeral can be attended by 20 persons only.

The infection is spreading very fast, although deaths have not been reported so far. With over 8,067 fresh Corona and 85 Omicron cases reported on Friday, restrictions have been imposed. Nagpur district also reported 90 Corona cases on Friday. Majority of the cases have been reported from Mumbai and Pune districts. The steep rise has been reported during the last four days. The rise is about five times of reported on December 27.

Out of the reported Corona, 55 percent are found to be infected by Omicron. Although the Omicron infection is not very serious, it is spreading at a very fast pace.

The Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has expressed concern over increasing number of cases during the last week. He has appealed to the people to strictly follow all preventive rules.

With schools and colleges re-opening during the last one and half month, again face closure.

Nagpur Municipal Corporation has also issued notification imposing the restrictions in the entire state. The restrictions come into force from Midnight of December 31.
