Amid ongoing student protests over the alleged NEET-UG paper leak, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat has said the younger generation needs dialogue and understanding rather than orders, stressing that today’s youth are more inclined to question and seek logical explanations.
Speaking at a programme organised by the Vishva Mangalya Sabha, Bhagwat said the relationship between elders and the younger generation has changed considerably over the years and called for greater communication to bridge the growing gap.
“When we were young, it was a time of obedience. But now the situation is different,” Bhagwat said.
He added that today’s youth are eager to ask questions and therefore parents, teachers and elders should explain the reasoning behind decisions, spend time with them and communicate with them with affection.
“The new generation asks questions. We have to explain the logic and reason behind it. We have to give them a lot of love. We have to spend time with them and communicate with them,” he said.
Emphasising the importance of discussion over directives, Bhagwat said, “We need to give the new generation a sense of belonging. We need to have a dialogue. Not to impose but to discuss. Not to dictate but to reach consensus.”
Bhagwat’s remarks come amid continuing protests over the alleged NEET-UG paper leak and examination irregularities. Student groups have been demanding greater accountability in the conduct of public examinations, reforms to prevent future paper leaks and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
The Central Government has rejected the demand for the minister’s resignation but has announced a series of measures to strengthen the examination system and prevent paper leaks. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also announced plans to introduce stricter legal provisions against those involved in examination fraud.
Despite multiple rounds of talks with the government, the protesting groups have continued their agitation, maintaining that stronger action is needed to restore confidence in the examination process. Meanwhile, senior RSS leader Indresh Kumar alleged that certain domestic and foreign forces were attempting to influence the protests.
“These protests are being led by forces within the country and at the global level who do not want India to become a developed, strong and educated nation,” he claimed.
The next round of discussions between the protesting groups and the Central Government is expected to take place soon, with the government’s response to the students’ demands being closely watched.
