Nagpur will witness a vibrant celebration of Indian classical dance as Sanskar Bharati, Nagpur Mahanagar, in collaboration with the South Central Zone Cultural Centre (SCZCC), presents the two-day ‘Nrityadhara’ Classical Dance Festival on July 27 and 28 at Dr Vasantrao Deshpande Hall, Civil Lines. The performances will begin at 5.30 pm on both evenings.
Inspired by the theme ‘Ekam Te Dasham’, the festival will bring together distinguished dance gurus and their disciples from across Vidarbha for 10 specially curated performances. Audiences will experience the richness and diversity of Kathak, Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi and Odissi, highlighting India’s centuries-old classical dance heritage.
The opening ceremony on July 27 will feature the traditional Nataraja Pujan, followed by the Kala Guru Samman honour. Veteran theatre and film artiste Mukund Vasule will be felicitated for his outstanding contribution to the performing arts.
The inaugural programme will be attended by Dr Mohan Narsing Bode, noted dance guru and Director of Hemant Nritya Kalamandir, Amravati, as the chief guest. Aastha Karlekar, Director of SCZCC, and acclaimed Kathak exponent Radhika Sathe will also grace the occasion.
Conceived by Avanti Kate, the festival will conclude on July 28 with five thematic dance productions showcasing the artistic excellence of participating performers. The closing ceremony will be attended by Kanchan Gadkari, President of Sanskar Bharati (Vidarbha), and industrialist Ashish Kalode.
Organisers have invited citizens and art lovers to attend the festival and enjoy two evenings dedicated to India’s classical dance traditions.
