Nagpur Police have registered an FIR against an X (formerly Twitter) user for allegedly posting false and misleading information claiming that “thousands of students surrounded the RSS headquarters in Nagpur.”
According to the FIR lodged at Kotwali Police Station, the complainant, a police official attached to the Cyber Branch, stated that the post was published from the X handle @vizhpuneet on July 24. The post claimed that thousands of students had surrounded the RSS headquarters in Nagpur and included remarks targeting the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
During preliminary verification, police found that no such incident had taken place at the RSS headquarters in Nagpur. Authorities alleged that the post contained false information and was capable of creating fear, tension, and misunderstanding among the public, particularly as it related to a sensitive location.
Police further stated that the dissemination of such allegedly fabricated content could disturb public peace and law and order. Based on the complaint, an FIR has been registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the investigation is underway.
No arrest had been made at the time of registration of the case, police said.
