The Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has rescheduled the 41st Maharashtra State Eligibility Test (MH SET) 2026, postponing the examination from July 26, 2026, to September 27, 2026.
MH SET is a state-level eligibility examination conducted to determine the eligibility of candidates for the post of Assistant Professor in colleges and universities across Maharashtra and Goa.
The examination will be conducted in offline mode and will comprise two papers held on the same day in separate shifts. Paper 1 will assess candidates’ teaching and research aptitude, while Paper 2 will evaluate subject-specific knowledge.

MH SET 2026 Revised Exam Date
According to the latest notification issued by SPPU, the MH SET 2026 examination will now be held on September 27, 2026, instead of the earlier scheduled date of July 26, 2026.
The university had also extended the online application deadline with a late fee from July 13 to July 23 after receiving representations from candidates who were unable to complete the registration process due to heavy rainfall in several parts of Maharashtra.

MH SET 2026 Exam Pattern
The MH SET consists of two objective-type papers.
Paper 1 is designed to assess a candidate’s teaching and research aptitude. It evaluates reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking, and general awareness. The paper contains 50 multiple-choice questions, each carrying 2 marks, for a total of 100 marks.
Paper 2 focuses on the subject selected by the candidate and consists of 100 multiple-choice questions, each worth 2 marks, carrying a maximum of 200 marks.
For Mathematical Sciences, candidates must attempt all 100 questions either from Sections I & II or Sections I & III. OMR sheets containing answers from both Sections II and III will not be evaluated.
