The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), Nagpur, on Friday submitted a memorandum to Nagpur Police Commissioner Vishwas Nangre Patil demanding strict legal action against individuals who allegedly displayed morphed posters containing objectionable, abusive, provocative and obscene content targeting the Prime Minister and other BJP leaders during a protest held at Samvidhan Square.
Led by BJYM Nagpur City President Sachin Karare under the guidance of BJP City President Dayashankar Tiwari, the delegation urged the police to register an FIR against those responsible under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and other applicable laws. The memorandum also sought a thorough investigation to identify those involved and called for preventive measures to ensure that such incidents are not repeated.
The BJYM stated that while the Constitution guarantees the right to peaceful protest, displaying morphed posters with objectionable and provocative content against constitutional office-bearers or political leaders is unacceptable and could disturb communal harmony and public order.
Police Commissioner Vishwas Nangre Patil assured the delegation that the matter would be examined seriously and that appropriate legal action would be taken against anyone found responsible for violating the law or attempting to disturb peace and public order.
The BJYM expressed hope that the administration would conduct an impartial investigation and take stringent action against the accused in accordance with the law.
