Free industry-oriented skill training for youth Joint Initiative of AID, Tata STRIVE, NMC and VGF
The Nagpur Skill Centre, established with the objective of creating a skilled workforce to meet the growing needs of industries in Vidarbha, will be inaugurated by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at 11 am. The inauguration ceremony will be held at the Kaushalya Vikas Kendra, near Prajapati Nagar Metro Station at Pardi.
The ambitious project has been conceived by the Association for Industrial Development (AID) under the leadership of its President Ashish Kale, with the guidance and vision of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. The state-of-the-art Skill Centre has been established through the joint efforts of the Association for Industrial Development (AID), Tata STRIVE, Nagpur Municipal Corporation, the Skill India Mission and the Vidarbha Global Foundation.
Mayor Nita Thackeray will preside over the inaugural function. Revenue Minister and Nagpur Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Minister of State Adv. Ashish Jaiswal, Rajya Sabha Member Maya Ivanate, Members of the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council, Municipal Commissioner Dr Vipin, District Collector Kumar Ashirwad, office-bearers of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation and several other dignitaries will attend the ceremony.
Industry-driven skill development
Spread over 30,000 square feet on a 1.25-acre campus, the modern Skill Centre has the capacity to train nearly 2,000 youth every year. The Centre has been designed to equip young people with industry-relevant skills through employment-oriented training programmes, personality development, entrepreneurship guidance and placement assistance, thereby creating a pool of industry-ready professionals.
Free short-term job-oriented courses
The Centre will offer free short-term skill development courses for students who have passed Class X, Class XII and graduates. In addition to classroom instruction, several courses will include on-the-job training as well as computer and spoken English training.
Students who have passed Class X can enrol in Food and Beverage Service Steward, Assistant Electrician, General Duty Assistant, Field Technician and Solar PV Installer (Suryamitra) courses. Those who have passed Class XII can pursue Front Office Associate and Quick Service Restaurant Executive programmes, while graduates can opt for Business Development Executive and UI/UX Designer courses. The age limit for the General Duty Assistant course is 20 to 45 years, while candidates applying for all other programmes should be 18 to 35 years of age.

The Nagpur Skill Centre is expected to become a significant catalyst for Vidarbha’s industrial growth by supplying trained and skilled manpower to various sectors. Special emphasis will be laid on facilitating employment opportunities for candidates after successful completion of their training.
