The tenth Convocation of Kavikulaguru Kalidas Sanskrit University Ramtek will be held at the University premises at 11 am on January 5.
The Governor of Maharashtra and Chancellor of the University Bhagat Singh Koshyari will preside over. Harikiran Wadalmani, Founder, Indic Academy will be the chief guest.
Govindgiriji Maharaj, Founder, Maharshi Vedavyas Pratishthan will be the guest of honour. Renowned Sanskrit and Computational Linguistic scholar Prof Vineet Chaitanya from IIIT, Hyderabad and Vaidya Jayant Deopujari, President, Institutional Ethics Committee will grace the occasion. Prof Srinivasa Varakhedi, Vice-Chancellor, KKSU, Dr Ramchandra Joshi, Registrar; Dr Umesh Shivhare, Controller of Examination, will remain present.
Prof Varakhedi will confer 2893 Degrees including 379 masters, 957 bachelors, 1361 diploma, 85 post-graduate diploma and 87 certificates. 35 gold medals along with 15 cash prizes.
On this occasion 2 honorary D.Litt., 3 Academic D.Litt. and 21 students from different faculties will be awarded Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees.
Prof. Vineet Chaitanya and Vaidya Jayant Deopuraji will be honoured with Honorary D Litt.
Three academic D Litt will be awarded to Dr Vinod Rangari for his research ‘Encounters with Satipatthana The 84,000 Dhammakkhandha Of Buddism’. Dr Janardana Hegde for his research ‘Shuddhitattvabodhini’ and Dr S Ramanathan for his research work ‘A Study on Tenets of Kautilya’s Arthashastra with Special Reference to Governing Principles and its Contemporary Relevanceâ€.
Amruta Vilasrao Barbadikar will receive Gold Medal institute by the Chancellor for highest scorer in MA Sanskrit. The medal has been instituted by Koshyari. She will be awarded the highest 8 gold medals and a Cash Prize.
Two theses have been selected for the Best Thesis award — ‘Development of Curriculum for Human Sciences on the Basis of Sanskrit Niti Texts’; by Vaishnavi Jagannath Patil and ‘The Study of Sanskrit One Act Play in Independent Maharashtra’ by Mrudula Atul Tapas.
