Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has announced tax
exemption for properties upto 500 sq ft in Mumbai.
This announcement was also confirmed by Urban
Development Minister Eknath Shinde. Bharatiya
Janata Party’s Nagpur city President and MLC Pravin Datke asked why the tax exemption applicable for Greater Mumbai is not for Nagpur city second capital of the State.
Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis had raised
the issue of tax exemption up to 500 square feet in the state. Chief Minister then made the announcement at Urban Development Department meet.
On the occasion, Urban Development Minister Eknath Shinde said that due to this announcement, 16 lakh houses under 500 square feet in Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation would get the benefit. Greater Mumbai Municipal Corporation is expected to collect Rs 7,000 crore in the year 2021-22. Not only BMC but all the Municipal Corporations in the State too should get benefit of this decision from Government grant, pointed out Datke.
