With Nagpur city reporting 166 new cases in a day, other districts in Vidarbha region are also witnessing surge in COVID-19 cases. The sudden spike could be considered as an indicator of beginning of the new wave, mainly triggered by the Omicron variant. Nagpur district today reported 196 cases for the first time after July. In the last 24-hours, 26 persons recovered from the virus borne disease.
Out of 196 cases in Nagpur district, 166 are from Nagpur city alone. While 24 cases are from Nagpur rural. Six cases were reported from outside the district.
In all of these cases many are with no travel history and several fully vaccinated persons as home isolation is not allowed in Nagpur city, all of them will have to be admitted either in the Covid Care Centre (CCC) or in hospitals. However, majority of the patients are symptomatic or have mild symptoms, sources said.
With the latest update, the cumulative positive cases reached 4,94,522 and the number of deaths stand still at 10,123. In all 4,83,703 persons have recovered from the virus borne disease.
The Covid recovery rate of Nagpur district has dropped to 97.81% from yesterday’s 97.85%. The active cases have reached 696 from 526 yesterday.
Similar rise is being observed in other districts of Nagpur division Gondia has reported 14, Chandrapur 12, Bhandara 6, and Gadchiroli 2 positive cases.
Chandrapur and Bhandara had reported 2, and 4 cases respectively on Monday. Wardha had reported 4 cases yesterday and is relived by reporting no case on Tuesday.
