The Nuisance Detection Squad (NDS), checked wedding ceremonies at four marriage lawns and imposed a fine of Rs one lakh to the managements for violating the covid-19 rules on Friday.
The squad from Nehru Nagar Zone booked Subh Ashish Marriage Lawns and imposed a fine of Rs 25,000/- for defying covid-19 rules on Friday.
The members of the squad raided the lawns and found attention of more than 50 persons in the wedding ceremony. Moreover, many persons were not wearing masks and observing social distance of six feet in between them.
The squad members also visited KRC Lawns, Gorewada ring road in Mangalwari Zone, Laxmi Lawns, Aamrai Lawns and one more lawns at similar place and imposed Rs 75,000/- fine to them for flouting the rules.
These are the first four cases for charging a fine of Rs one lakh to the managements of marriage lawns in the city, after Radhakrishnan B, Municipal Commissioner, issuing restrictions and instructions for following the rules against corona on Wednesday. He had asked the squad members to start taking stringent actions against marriage halls, hotels or lawns, if they failed to follow the rules. He issued the orders in view of the fast increasing cases of Omicron and Corona in the city to avoid further spread of the virus and safety of the citizens.
Radhakrishnan had issued restrictions for participation of only 50 guests in the wedding ceremony and made it compulsory for wearing masks, using sanitizer and maintaining safe distance in the gathering. He had also warned that policemen or squad members would visit such places on the marriage day to check whether the managements and people are seriously following the rules.
Even after issuing the orders just one day back the management of Subh Ashish Marriage Lawns and guests were found not observing the rules seriously.
