India reported 3.47 lakh COVID-19 cases and 703 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The number of daily cases increased by almost 9 per cent from the previous day. With the latest deaths, the death toll now stands at 4,88,396. The active caseload has risen to 20,18,825 cases, accounting for 5.23 percent of all cases in the country.
The number of people infected with Omicron has grown to 9,692 across the country, up 4.36 per cent from the previous day.
In the last 24 hours, 2,51,777 patients have been rehabilitated, bringing the total to 3,60,58,806. As a result, India’s recovery rate is 93.50 per cent.
During the same time period, a total of 19,35,912 tests were carried out across the country, bringing the total to over 71.15 crore.
Despite a jump in the weekly positivity rate to 16.56 per cent due to a surge in cases, the daily positivity rate has dropped to 17.94 per cent.
As of Friday morning, the country’s Covid inoculation coverage has reached 160.43 crore, thanks to the delivery of almost 70 lakh vaccine doses in the last 24 hours.
The states and UTs still have more than 12.73 crore in balance and unused Covid vaccination doses, according to the Ministry.
