The local authorities appear to be confused over the directions on reopening of schools. The decision to reopen or otherwise has to be taken by the local authorities, after the State Government has allowed reopening of schools from January 24.
The conditions granting authority to local authorities to decide on opening of schools, was mentioned even in earlier notifications. But none took decision on its own and followed the Government directions.
Now, probably for the first time, Pune, Ahmednagar Sangli, Aurangabad, Nagpur local authorities took decision ‘not to open schools from January 24’.
In Nagpur the District Collector has announced that the schools will not open till January 26. However, the Municipal Corporation has not taken any decision for the schools within the municipal area. The decision is likely to be taken on Monday.
In Vidarbha region rise in Corona infection is increasing during the last two weeks. Besides Nagpur, Chandrapur, Wardha, Gadchiroli, Amravati and Buldana are the most affected districts.
Parents too are reluctant to send their wards for off-line classes.
