Nagpur has reached a milestone of 35 lakh residents vaccinated to help combat the impacts of Covid-19. While the goal of providing the first dose was met, the reaction to the second dose was a little low.
Vaccination for teenagers aged 15 to 18 years was recently introduced, and it received a positive response from the youth. Citizens over the age of 18, including children over the age of 15, as well as booster dose jabbing, have accounted for 35,74,718 immunisation doses in the city to date. The objective for first-dose immunisation was exceeded, with 21,06,739 vaccines administered.
In the age category of 15 to 18 years, 67,049 immunizations have been administered, with 21,521 people receiving booster doses.
To complete the immunisation of all persons eligible for vaccination,Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has set up over 150 vaccination centers in different parts of the city. Apart from that, special centers have been set up for the youth in the age group of 15 to 18 years.
Given the reluctant among section of population,
authorities have appealed all eligible person in city
needs to come forward and complete their vacci-
nation. Booster dose is being provided after nine
months of taking the second dose.
Vaccination in city started from January 16, 2020, onwards starting with jabbing the health workers,
Doctors and Government employees. Senior citizens followed by all citizens above 18-years of age
were covered under the vaccination. In between, NMC arranged special camps for students going abroad for education, and also covered disabled, beggars and citizens who did not had Aadhaar card.
There after as per directive of State Government,
civic body also undertook ‘Har Ghar Dastak’ campaign to complete the administration of first dose.
Special focus of this campaign was to cover the citizens who were reluctant to take ‘Shaurya Diwas’:
