Today, India recorded 2,85,914 new coronavirus cases, 11.7 percent more than the previous day’s figure of 2.55 lakh.
According to data from the Union Health Ministry, the total number of infections in India, the world’s second worst-affected country after the United States, has surpassed 4 crore.
In India, active cases now account for 5.55 percent of total infections, with the national COVID-19 recovery rate increasing marginally to 93.23 percent. There are currently 22,23,018 active cases.
The daily positivity rate, which is the percentage of coronavirus tests that return positive and is considered a key indicator of the pandemic’s status, has increased marginally from 15.5 percent yesterday to 16.16 percent today, while the weekly positivity rate remains at 17.33 percent.
The country has also lost 665 people in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of Covid-related deaths to 4,91,127 since the outbreak began.
