Captain Yogendra Singh, Kargil war hero and recipient of Paramveer Chakra, will perform bhoomipujan of ‘Vande Mataram’ Udyan on Feb 4 in front of Empress Mall, Bajeria, at 6 pm to mark Amrut Mahotsava and 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhashchandra Bose. The udyan is being developed by Maharashtra Textiles Corporation on a piece of 1.25 lakh sq ft belonging to NMC in memory of Army officers honoured with Paramveer Chakra Awards.
Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Surface Transport, will be the chief guest while Dr Nitin Raut, Power Minister, who is also Guardian Minister for Nagpur district, and Chandrakantdada Patil, President of BJP, Maharashtra, will be the guests of honour. Dayashankar Tiwari, Mayor, will preside over the function.
The memorial will have glass fibre murals of 21 award recipients with information. The ceramic murals will display battle fields where these warriors displayed their bravery. Moreover, every image would be decorated by landscape around. One tank, one MiG fighter aircraft and one cannon used in the battle field would also be kept in the premises as war trophy. One amphitheatre in memory of freedom fighters from Nagpur district would be developed. The udyan will have scene on Hindustani Sena, bamboo bridge, children’s park, seating arrangement for senior citizens, walking track, green gym etc while the entry gate will be a replica of India Gate.
Ravindra Bhelave, Deputy Municipal Commissioner, Amol Chaurpagar, Garden Superintendent, and Ashok Patil, Asstt Commissioner, Gandhibag Zone, have appealed to the citizens to use masks and follow other rules while attending the function.
