Nagpur Traffic Police has revised the maximum speed limit for different categories of motor vehicles plying on city roads following orders of ADG Traffic Maharashtra. The new order came into force from Sunday, said the police.
The Police have fixed the maximum speed limits of 50-80 kmph on most roads in the city. The maximum limit for passenger vehicles (8 + 1) on six laned roads with dividers is fixed at 80 km per hour. Also, now the maximum speed limit passenger vehicle with more than 9 passengers will ply with maximum speed of 60 km/h.
The speed limit for freight vehicles has been set at 40 kilometres per hour. Two-wheelers and four-wheeler rickshaws are permitted to travel at a maximum speed of 60 kilometres per hour, while three-wheeler rickshaws are permitted to travel at a maximum speed of 50 kilometres per hour.
Until March 8, 2022, the new speed restriction will be in effect. Citizens can voice their concerns to DCPTraffic. Near Ramtek, a man was killed in an accident. According to authorities, a motorbike rider was murdered and the pillion rider was critically injured after a speeding truck collided with their motorcycle near Waitola hamlet in the Ramtek district.
According to police, the accident occurred on Thursday when Mohd Sajid Mohd Abit (26), a resident of Kahari Mohalla, District – Balaghat, Madhya Pradesh, was heading towards Ramtek. Mohd Arshad Mohd Attaullah Khan (28) was riding pillion.
A speeding truck came from the opposite direction and rammed into the two-wheeler. Sajid and Arshad sustained grievous injuries in the mishap. They were taken to the hospital where Sajid breathed his last. A case under Sections 279, 337, 335, 304 (a) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered by Ramtek police. Further investigation is on.
