Vikesh Nagrale, the accused in setting affire a college teacher in Hinganghat, has ben awarded life imprisonment till death by Wardha District Court on Thursday.
In the infamous case Vikesh had poured petrol on Ankita Pisudde and set her on fire, when she was going to the college, where she was a temporary teacher. The incident, which took place on February 3, 2020, was a result of one-sided love by Vikesh. Ankita died on February 10, in hospital, when she was being treated for the burn injuries.
Exactly two years later on February 10, 2022, Ankita’s killer was slapped with life term till death by the Court in Wardha. Adv Ujjwal Nikam appeared as Special Government Pleader in the case.
Vikesh, a married man having a girl child, was after Ankita. When she did not respond to his advances, he set her afire, when she was walking towards her college after alighting from a bus, on February 3, 2020. The college is a few meters away from the bust stop.
Vikesh was served a 426-page chargesheet. The Court examined 29 witnesses in the case. On Wednesday the Court had held him guilty of the murder. The punishment was awarded on Thursday.
The incident had evoked strong reaction from across the nation.
