Among the 75 cities participating in two unique national level challenges, Nagpur is placed in the categories of maximum km in walking and maximum registration in cycling.
Smart Cities Mission and Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, Government of India, had launched two unique national level challenges between January 1 and January 26 to mark Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsava: Freedom 2 walk and cycle challenge for City Leaders and Inter-City Freedom 2 Walk and Cycle Challenge for Citizens. The ministry held an online awards ceremony on February 17 to recognise top performing citizes and city leaders in both competitions.
Buvaneswari S, Chief Executive Officer, Nagpur Smart & Sustainable City Development Corporation Ltd., congratulated the citizens and city leaders who actively took part in the challenge. She admitted it would not have been possible4 to reach maximum registrations in cycling and maximum km in walking without support by the citizens and city leaders.
Dayashankar Tiwari, Mayor, Dr Sanjay Mukherjee, Chairman, NSSCDCL, and Radhakrishnan B, Municipal Commissioner, appreciated the efforts taken by the Nagpur Smart City team and cycling group of the city.
