The case of a betel nut seller being extorted for Rs 30 lakh is getting complicated with each passing day. In a latest development in the case, following the arrests of the key suspects, the role of a police officer is now being scrutinised.
Manoj Sahu, posted at Beltarodi police station, did n’t report the crime to sen iors despite having knowl edge about it. Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar has indicated that Sahu will be suspended.
Despite knowing about the crime, Beltarodi police station officer Manoj Sahu did not report it to superiors. Sahu will be suspended, according to Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar.
The accused Ashok Vanjani and Manoj Vanjani had demanded 60 lakh from betel nut trader Anup Nagaria by promising help for his brother Anil, who has been arrested in a cheating case, from court and police.
The accused told Anup that the money was to be paid to a senior judge and a police officer. Police investigation revealed that Naresh Parmar, Ratan Rana, Mandhania, Sanjay Manjani and Brajesh Patel too were involved in the case and that Sairabh Keswani from Jalgaon was the mastermind behind the case.
Police have arrested all the above accused except Brajesh Patel. Later, involve ment of Sahu and some bro kers too came to light. Taking serious cognizance of the matter, CP Amitesh Kumar hinted that action will be taken against Sahu soon.
The mastermind of the case Saurabh Keswani was arrested on Thursday. Claiming to be a relative of a senior police officer, Keswani has been extorting lakhs of rupees from many.
