All summer examinations at Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) will be conducted in offline format. Because to the COVID-19 epidemic, the University has been conducting all examinations remotely for the past two years.
Last two examinations involving colleges were performed by the university. Even semester examinations were handled by the university, while odd semester examinations were handled by the colleges. However, the University will be the only provider of all off-line summer examinations.
Dr Praful Sable, Director of Board of Examinations and Evaluation told ‘The Hitavada’, “We had already taken the decision of holding summer examinations in offline mode. The moderation, paper setting work
has already begun. We haven’t prepared the timetable but the work is going on. Presently, novel coronavirus pandemic situation is under control. The decision of holding offline examinations can be changed as per the situation of COVID-19 cases during the time of examinations.â€
Most students and parents, too, want offline examinations as they are fed up with online mode. Majority colleges had opposed the idea of varsity of odd and even examination pattern. Somehow colleges said yes to the proposal of University during online examinations. But, they are not ready to do the same for offline mode.
According to a senior official of university, in RTMNU, colleges are not habitual of holding examinations unlike what witnessed in Mumbai or Pune university. If colleges start conducting examinations, it will not only reduce the load of examinations that is being carried by university, but it will also improve the quality of examinations and results.
