Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Nagpur arrested Hemant Rajandekar joint commissioner of CGST and a chartered accountant for allegedly accepting 24 lakh bribe.
The complainant is a Yavatmal-based contractor identified as Jayant Choupane. He owns Jai Electricals and Electronics. The accused are as Mukul Patil, Jt commissioner, CGST and Hemant Rajandekar, CA, resident of Ajni Chowk.
Patil had issued a show cause notice to the com plainant, pertaining to service tax liability.
After that the accused allegedly demanded a bribe of 24.5 lakh from the complainant to get the service tax liability case disposed of. Following which the com plainant approached CBI, ACB.
The ACB officials after preliminary investigation into the matter, laid a trap and nabbed the accused red handed while accepting a bribe.
The officials are now also carrying out searches at the office of the CA and house and office of Patil.
