Various organisations have organised separate programmes on Tuesday in the city to mark International Women’s Day.
Police Department: The Office of the Commissioner of Police has organised a function on Tuesday at Vanamati Hall in Dharampeth at 2 pm as part of celebrating the Internaitonal Women’s Day. Dr Nitin Raut, Guardian Minister for Nagpur district, will preside over the function while retd Justice Vasanti Naik, Bombay High Court, will be the chief guest. Amitesh Kumar, Commissioner of Police, Ashwati Dorje, Joint CP, Sunil Fulari, Naveenchandra Reddy, Addl CPs, Vinita Sahu, DCP, will be the guests of honour.
Regional Transport Office: RTO will launch ‘Savitri’ squad on Tuesday to mark the Day by not keeping its work upto vehicle checking but expanding it to education, training, implementation, public awareness, service and social commitment. Prajakta Lawangare-Verma, Divisional Commissioner, will be chief guest at a function on Tuesday at Bachat Bhavan, Collectorate, at 11 am to mark beginning of the squad. Vimla R, District Collector, will be the guest of honour, informs Sneha Medhe, Asstt RTO, Nagpur Rural.
Sahayog Trust: It has organised a free legal aid camp on Tuesday at Adv Smita Sarode Singalkar Sahayog Trust Office, Laad Apartment, Flat No: B/2, Metro Pillar No: 247, Khare Town, Dharampeth, North Ambazari Road at 11.30 am. Specialists will give advices to women preferably sorting out cases amicably outside, diverse, custody for children, family discord, disputes, maintenance etc.
Abhiruchi Foundation: The members have organised a programme at Shri Siddhivinayak Studio, 3rd floor, Dharampeth Arts & Commerce College, North Ambazari Road, at 5 pm to mark the Day. The foundation will celebrate women having rendered valuable services in society, informs Ganesh Billa, Secretary of the foundation.
Tilak Patrakar Bhavan Trust: The trust in cooperation with Nagpur Union of Working Journalists and Patrakar Club of Nagpur will celebrate the Day on Tuesday at Press Club, Opp Institute of Science, Civil Lines, at 4 pm with Prajakta Lawangare-Verma, Divisional Commissioner, as the chief guest. Aswathi Dorje, Jt Commissioner of Police, will be the guest of honour. Noted social worker Rupatai Kulkarni will be conferred with Stree Gaurav Puraskar.
Humanity Social Foundation: The workers will take out a bike rally in which women would participate to mark the Day, for their empowerment and implementing Shakti Act. Over 50 women will drive bullet vehicles from Shivnagar, behind Sangam talkies, Nehru Park, at 4 pm, informs Pooja Manmode.
Vidarbha Anyay Nivaran Samiti: Jwala Jambuvantrao Dhote, President of the samiti, informed that women would observe Black Day on Tuesday for making injustice to prostitutes during the past eight months. The programme will be held at Chandra Shekar Azad statue, Adamshah Chowk, Central Avenue, at 11 am. Sunil Chokhare, President of Aamrapali Sansthana, will be present.
Group Centre Nagpur: It is celebrating the occasion under the aegis of Family Welfare Centre on Tuesday at Group Centre CRPF, Nagpur, at 11 am with ritu Datta, President of CWWA, Western Sector, and Keerthi Jambholkar, President of RCWA, will be the guests of honour.
