On Friday, former mayor Dayashankar Tiwari and DRM of Central Railway Richa Khare inaugurated the 28th edition of the Orange City Craft Fair and Folk Dance Festival, which is organised by the South Central Zone Cultural Centre (SCZCC) in Nagpur. Anand Kasbe, a member of the board of directors, and Dr. Deepak Khirwadkar, director of the SCZCC, were also present during the inauguration. Tiwari, the former mayor, lauded the SCZCC’s efforts.
“The handicraft that united the nation, the cul tural art that made efforts to unite India from generation to generation, is being kept alive by SCZCC. I welcome all the artistes from across the country to the orange city,” Tiwari said.
The artistes of Panthi dance were feted during the ceremony. Other events during the inaugu ration included various folk dances. Pornima Chauhan presented a Ganesh Vandana, followed by Gotipua Nritya, Rai Nritya, Bihu, Chapeli, Kalbeliya, Panthi and
Lavani. Another pro gramme, ‘Mujhme bhi Kalakar, brought out the artiste in common people who attended the event.
The Orange City Craft Mela will be held till 20th March from 2 pm onwards. The presentation of the folk arts will begin at 6:30 pm. The officials have urged the people to follow Covid precautionary measures while attending the event.
