Income Tax officials raided 26 places connected to a cable operator, a government employees and persons connected to them. The raids, besides Mumbai were carried out in Pune, Sangli and Ratnagiri. Their connection with a political leader is also being verified.
During the search operations, it was noticed that a piece of land in Dapoli was purchased in the year 2017 for rs 1 crore. It was registered in 2019 and sold for rs 1.10 crore to a person in 2020. The person to whom te land was transferred is under scanner of the IT officials.
It has also came to light that a resort was constructed on the land. The construction work began in 2017 and more than Rs 6 crore was spent on the construction work. The expenditure has not been shown either by the person under suspicion or the connected political leader.
The government officer is suspected to have purchased huge property in the name of his family members and close relatives. The property under search includes a bungalow and a farm house in Pune, a farm house in Tasgaon, two bungalows in Sangli, two commercial complexes, a flat in Navi Mumbai and land in Sangli, Bramati and Pune and about 100 acre of agriculture land. The property is learnt to have been acquired during the last seven years. Investment in various trades are also being investigated.
Some relatives of this government employee in construction business, were awarded several contracts by the government. Several bogus transactions of about rs 27 crores have also been detected and are under investigation. IT officials have also seized Rs 66 lakh cash and documents of unaccounted cash transaction of Rs 2 crore in land transfer in Baramati.
Further investigations are in progress.
