If required MESMA may be enforced
Maharashtra Energy Minister Dr Nitin Raut has appealed to the employees of power companies to withdraw the strike. The employees cross the state are on strike from Monday.
Fearing power failure, Dr Raut said that the employees should consider the situation. The examinations of Std XII are in progress, which may be adversely affected.
Meanwhile, the State Government has also threatened action under MESMA (Maharashtra Essential Services Maintenance Act), if the strike continues and power supply is affected.
Some of the power generation plants in the state have capacity to supply power for about two days only. Dr Raut, however, has stated that the State will ensure smooth power supply.
In view of call of national strike of Government employees, Union Government has also issued instructions to ensure security of power grids.
