The Union Ministry of Road Transport & highways has increased inspection fees for non-transport vehicles and renewal of registration certificates applicable from April 1, 2022 under Central Motor Vehicles Rules 47 and 81 (amended). It issued a notification in this regard.
Hemant Patil, Deputy Regional Officer, Office of the Transport Commissioner, Mumbai, has issued letters on Monday to all the Regional Transport Officers/Deputy Regional Transport Officers all over Maharashtra for charging the new fees from April 1.
The new fees for issue of certificates of registration and assignment of new registration mark or renewal of certificate of registration for motor-cycle new registration will be Rs 300/- and for renewal of registration it will be Rs 1,000/- as against the previous fee of Rs 50/-. The new fees for three-wheeler/quadricycle are Rs 600/- for new registration and Rs 2500/- for renewal of registration as against the earlier fee of Rs 300/-. In case of light motor vehicle the fee for new registration will be as usual Rs 600/- and it is Rs 5,000/- for renewal of registration as against the previous fee of Rs 600/-. The fee for medical goods/passenger vehicle the fee is Rs 1,000/- and for heavy goods/passenger vehicle the fee will be Rs 1,500/-.
As for imported motor vehicle (two or three-wheeled) the new registration fee will be Rs 2,500/- and for renewal of registration it is Rs 10,000/-. In case of imported motor vehicle (four or more wheeled) the fee for new registration will be Rs 5,000/- and it is Rs 45,000/- for renewal of registration.
The notification pointed out that any other vehicle not mentioned above the fees will be Rs 3,000/- for new registration and Rs 6,000/- for renewal of registration.
For conducting test of a vehicle for grant and renewal of certificate of fitness for motor vehicles older than 15 years the fees will be manual: Rs 400/-, automated: Rs 500/-, for three-wheeler or light motor vehicle or quadricycle it will be manual Rs 800/-, automated Rs 1,000/-, for medium goods or passenger motor vehicle it will be manual: Rs 800/-, automated: Rs 1,300/0 and for heavy goods or passenger motor vehicle, the fee is manual: Rs 1,000/0 and automated: Rs. 1,500/-.
As for grant or renewal of certificate of fitness for motor vehicles (transport) older than 15 years the fee varies from Rs 1,000/- to Rs 12,500/-, the notification pointed out.
Ravindra Bhuyar, Acting RTO, Nagpur, has appealed to vehicle owners to take a note of this notification and make the payments. Dr Roopkumar Belsare, Deputy RTO and Harshal Dake, Asstt RTO, have also made similar appeal to the people.
