The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has encouraged consumers to use electricity sparingly during the morning and evening hours due to increased demand. The MSEDCL also hinted at a possible power shortfall.
Except for Mumbai, the demand for power in the state has risen to about 24,000 megawatts in the last 15 days, according to MSEDCL. With the arrival of summer, demand is expected to increase even more.
As a result, the MSEDCL has advised all home, business, agricultural, and industrial customers to use power sparingly between 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. According to MSEDCL, the state’s power demand has surpassed 28,000 megawatts for the first time.
