Various organisations will celebrate Gudi Padwa festival (Hindu New Year’s Day) by organising separate programmes in the city on Saturday.
The workers of Dakshin Pashchim Mandal will take out a rally on Saturday after erecting Gudi at nine squares from Omkarnagar Chowk to Hingna T-point and performing pooja. The rally will pass through various localities and culminate at Hingna T-point, where concluding function will be held. Satish Siraswan, Secretary of BJP Anusuchit Jati Morcha, has appealed to office-bearers and workers to participate in the rally in large numbers.
Sandip Joshi, former Mayor, has organised a programme at Laxminagar Chowk at 6.30 am to perform pooja of 75 feet high Gudi, followed by Ramraksha recital, Samuhik Aarti to mark welcoming the New Year. He appealed to the citizens to take part in the programme in large numbers and welcome the New Year.
Somvanshi Arya Kshatriya Samaj Sanstha will erect 101 feet high Gudi and hoist saffron flag at Rashtriya Smarak Ashok Stambh, Chitar Oli, Gandhi statue, Itwari, on Saturday at 8 am. The office-bearers of sanstha have appealed to community members to be present in the programme in large numbers.
Similarly, Shilpa Nagar Vikas Kriti Samiti va Sanskritik Mandal has organised “Padwa Saanj†programme on Saturday at NIT Garden, Shilpa Society, near UCO Bank, Manish Nagar, at 6.15 pm, as part of welcoming the New Year. Kanchantai Gadkari, President, Gayatri Mahila Audyogik Sahakari Sanstha, will be the chief guest while Dayashankar tiwari, former Mayor, will preside over the function. Avinash Thakre, former Ruling Party Leader in NMC, will be the guest of honour.
Ramdaspeth Nagarik Mandal has organised a programme at 8 am to erect Gudi and mass Ramraksha recital at Lendhra Park open ground, Ramdaspeth. The members will welcome the New Year by beating drums.
Members of Bharatiya Nav-varsha Swagat Samiti organised a scooter rally for women on Friday evening from Agyaram Devi Chowk to Shri Poddareshwar Ram Mandir to mark the occasion.
