It appears that Chandrapur city does not get respite from the scorching heat as the maximum temperature continues to go upwards. It has now touched the so far highest figure of 45.4 degrees C in Vidarbha on Thursday.
It was the one of the hottest places all over the world by registering the temperature of 45.2 degrees C on Wednesday, closely followed by Brahmapuri – 45.3 degrees C and Akola – 44.9 degrees C on Wednesday and today also it ranked at the same position.
Nagpur city that had registered maximum of temperature of 43.2 degrees C on Wednesday has the reduced temperature of 42,2 degrees C today, providing much relief to the citizens. Similarly, the temperature in Akola slumped from 44.9 degrees C to 42.6 degrees C in 24 hours.
Brahmapuri continues to the hottest place by registering the temperature of 44.0 degrees C on Thursday. The citizens were sizzling yesterday in the highest temperature of 45.3 degrees C.
The graph of temperature is showing an upward trend all over Vidarbha region, except Buldana, where the temperature was just 38 degrees C today. The temperature figures in C at other districts in the region on Thurday include: Wardha – 43.8, Gondia – 43.2, Washim – 43.0, Yavatmal – 43.0, Amravati – 42.6 and Gadchiroli – 40.4
Meanwhile, the people, including women and girls, in all the districts of the region, are wearing cotton clothes (panchya) and scarves around the head while driving vehicles to protect themselves from the onslaught of scorching heat.
The Indian Meteorological Department has issued forecast of thunderstorm accompanied with lightining and light to moderate rainfall very likely to occur at isolated places over Chandrapur district of Vidarbha.
